I'm Andrew — a qualified accountant practising since 2015, with a career in finance stretching back further still. I help UK small businesses stay organised, compliant, and financially confident — and you deal directly with me, every time.
My career in finance began in the construction industry — junior bookkeeping roles that gave me a grounding in the practical realities of running accounts under real commercial pressure (more on that below). From there I moved into broader finance roles across a range of sectors, building experience in management accounting, asset-backed lending, and high-volume data environments — where I became a confident Excel user and learned how financial information flows through a business, and how to make it useful rather than just accurate.
I qualified with the AAT in 2015 and became a CIMA Chartered Management Accountant in 2019. Setting up APD was a natural next step — bringing everything I'd learned in employed finance roles directly to small business owners who deserve the same quality of work, without the overhead of a large firm.
I work with sole traders, subcontractors and tradesmen, landlords, limited company directors, and small businesses across North Wales, Flintshire, Chester and Deeside, as well as further afield across the UK. My approach is straightforward: no jargon, no surprises, and everything handled with precision so you can focus on what you do best.
See How It WorksA career spanning construction, asset-backed finance, and management accounting — every role sharpened a skill that directly benefits my clients today.
Produced monthly management accounts, income statements and financial position reports across multiple business units — including roles in asset-backed lending where accuracy and timeliness were non-negotiable.
Designed bookkeeping processes from scratch and maintained them across high-volume environments — including subcontract and plant hire accounting in the construction sector. Experienced with large datasets and complex reconciliations using Excel.
Managed high-volume supplier payments, purchase ledgers, invoicing cycles, and credit control across multiple concurrent accounts — including environments where subcontractor payment schedules and CIS deductions added significant complexity.
Acted as audit contact and managed all regulatory submissions including VAT, self-assessment, and HMRC correspondence across previous roles.
These aren't aspirations — they're the standard every client receives, every time.
Your numbers are handled with care and precision. I never cut corners — a single error in a tax return or VAT submission can cost you far more than it should. Accuracy is non-negotiable.
You always deal directly with Andrew — not a junior, not a call centre, not whoever picks up the phone. The person who agreed your engagement is the person who does the work.
Accounting has enough jargon. I explain everything clearly so you understand exactly what's happening with your finances — and why. No surprises, no mysteries, no small print.
